The National Semiconductor IMP-00A bit-slice microprocessor was introduced to market in the beginning of 1973, this is just the fourth microprocessor (1st, Intel 4004, 2nd Intel 8008, 3rd Rockwell PPS-4). The IMP-00A is the first bit-slice microprocessor, predating the Intel 3002 and AMD 2901.
Ates Componenti Elettronici was formed in the 50's to provide electronic components for the Italian government operated telecommunications company S.T.E.T. (Società Finanziara Telefonica).
Founded in 1910 as an electronics repair shop by Namihei Odaira. Hitachi's product line expanded to electric transformers, motors and generators through the 1930's. In the 1940's and 50's, Hitachi's product diversified even further to electric locomotives to transistor based computers.
This the only CPU produced by Electronic Arrays. EA had difficulty with production and building a market for the EA9002. The EA9002 was competitor to the Fairchild F8 and the RCA COSMAC 1802. Because of its lateness to market the EA9002 never achieved the popularity of these former chips.
Jim McMullen and others left to found McMullen Associates which became Electronic Arrays, Inc.
